Restorepoint selects Computerlinks as Distribution Partner

COMPUTERLINKS brings first multi-vendor business continuity solution
to the channel with new distribution agreement

Newmarket, 4th July 2011: COMPUTERLINKS UK, the next generation provider of IT security and Internet technology solutions, has today announced an exclusive distribution agreement in the UK and Ireland for Restorepoint by TADASoft a leading independent software development company focused on disaster recovery for network, security and storage solutions. The agreement will enhance and
complement COMPUTERLINKS’ established portfolio of networking, security and storage solutions and will form a key component of its expanding business continuity channel proposition.

The appointment will provide COMPUTERLINKS’ channel partners with access to Restorepoint - an integrated hardware or virtualised platform that automatically backs up, encrypts and restores network and security devices from 35 vendors through a single console.

The increase in regulatory demands, growth in round-the-clock Internet-based business and the ongoing uncertain economic conditions reinforce the need to manage risk in all its forms. However, recent research by the IBM Institute for Business Value highlighted that only half of businesses have a formal risk management department or business continuity strategy in place. 1

David Ellis, director of new technology and services at COMPUTERLINKS commented, “Business continuity is an extremely hot area for the channel. We are looking forward to working with Restorepoint as we believe it addresses many of the challenges that our partners are being asked to deal with when planning for disasters
or managing compliance. Restorepoint will also enable our partners to generate incremental business streams by allowing them to revisit their existing customers that have invested in multi-vendor solutions.”

Restorepoint supports networking and security devices from 35 leading vendors such as Check Point, Cisco, Blue Coat, Juniper, F5 Networks, Palo Alto, NetApp, Brocade, Riverbed and Aruba. It is managed from one convenient central location with an easy to use, secure web interface. Restorepoint is the only vendor-independent appliance on the market and the first dedicated product to address this issue.

Michael Bell, sales director at TADASoft said, “Organisations that have had disaster recovery plans in place for years regularly centrally backup their data and applications. Achieving the same and being able to recover from configuration changes or failures of multi-vendor Network or Security devices, however, is far more complicated and typically requires a high degree of skill.  Networks underpin all the other IT systems that support so many business operations today, so even a small outage can lead to a loss of revenue, access to critical applications, and impact productivity. It’s a fact of life that companies will experience hardware failures and human errors will continue to cause network outages too - it’s how quickly you recover from them that makes the difference.”

Bell added, “Working with COMPUTERLINKS we believe their networking and security skills will be a real asset to partners working with organisations where network uptime is critical. The value they bring with both pre and post sales support is a real advantage for us and our channel partners.”

The announcement follows COMPUTERLINKS UK’s recent remodelling of its business to enable its channel partners to deliver profitable, value-added services around new and emerging technologies such as virtualisation, cloud computing and IP-based physical security.

About Restorepoint
Restorepoint is a cost effective integrated hardware or virtualized software appliance solution that centralizes, simplifies and automates the often complex processes of backup and recovery for multivendor network and security devices.  Companies can reduce downtime and costs significantly; with just 3 clicks of a mouse an administrator with little technical knowledge can recover the complex configurations and other vital settings necessary to restore normal network operations in minutes, even for complex devices such as a Check Point firewall or SmartCenter for example.

Using Restorepoint removes many technical and financial barriers that have prevented organisations from successfully and reliably implementing a backup strategy for their network equipment. Knowledge of a particular vendors technology and how it should be recovered in the event of failure is not a prerequisite because it is built in to the platform, and Restorepoint supports many devices types including, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, WAN Acceleration, Wireless, Proxies, Email/web protection, and Storage controllers.  Restorepoint can also automatically scan for and identify new devices using a variety of methods on the network for import and establish the correct protocols for the correct device.

Restorepoint was developed with security and managed service operations in mind, it can scale up to 10k network devices using a single appliance, is Multi-Tenant allowing devices to be separated into management domains (Restorepoint MSP), and has multi-user and multilevel access controls. Reports and Alerts can be  generated covering user activity, backup success, changes to configurations, and compliance reports that measure company security policies across the multivendor network.

About TADASoft
TADASoft is a UK based software development company focused on disaster recovery and network configuration & change management for security, network and storage management technologies. Established in 2008 TADASofts’ developers experience and knowledge of network and security operations led to the release of Restorepoint, which within a year had been recognised and awarded for its innovation by SC Magazine.

Since its initial release Restorepoint’s functionality and support for multi-vendor technologies has grown from strength to strength and now supports 35 different vendors technologies.  TADASofts continues to expand and develop support for more technologies and has released device plug-ins as part of its subscription service for Stonesoft, Aruba, Zhone and Ironport including Safelists this year.

Many corporate, government and managed service clients have chosen and depend on Restorepoint, rather than use a multitude of vendor management technologies for disaster recovery and are also better able to meet their PCI, ITIL and ISO27001/2 configuration management requirements using a single solution. Organisations also benefit from a simple unified experience for all supported technologies that has proven to be reliable, saves time, money, and resources whilst reducing the impact of network downtime.
