Automate backup for F5 devices without scripts

F5® configuration backup is the process of making a copy of the complete configuration and settings for F5 devices. Configuration backups allow network administrators to recover quickly from a device failure, roll back from misconfiguration or simply revert a device to a previous state.

Because configurations change in time, configuration backups for F5 should be created regularly and stored in a secure location.

Restorepoint includes support for the following F5 device types:

  • BigIP Series
  • F5OS

Restorepoint uses SSH to connect to the device and download the configuration as a UCS archive, which includes the following:

  • All BIG-IP specific configuration files
  • BIG-IP product licenses
  • User accounts and password information
  • SSL certificates and keys

Restorepoint supports F5 BIG-IP devices running software 9+

  • Restorepoint can back up and restore the configuration in both UCS and the SCF (Single Configuration File) formats. The SCF format is useful when restoring to a different device or platform, where the UCS format may not be used.
  • The Firmware Push has been tested with software versions 14 and 15. Please note that clustered f5 systems are not supported.
  • Restorepoint uses SSH and SCP to connect to the device. Please ensure that port 22/tcp is not blocked by any firewalls between Restorepoint and the device.
  • When entering the logon credential, use an account with the advanced shell enabled.
  • Restorepoint has been tested with BigIP software version 9-15.

Restorepoint enables organisations to remove network management complexity by putting routine tasks such as network configuration backup, compliance and change management tasks on autopilot across their multi-vendor network infrastructure.

Using Restorepoint's simple graphical user interface network administrators can quickly schedule network device backups without scripts, analyse devices to ensure security, compliance and automate bulk changes that would otherwise take hours or days to implement manually.
