We are thrilled to announce that, as of the 30th September 2021, Restorepoint formally agreed to join forces with ScienceLogic. We’ll continue to operate as a separate organisation, with our existing team, product and roadmap.
Before this exciting news hits the industry media, we wanted to explain the background which led to us entering into an agreement with ScienceLogic and share our thoughts and plans for the future.
Restorepoint was founded in 2008 with a simple but clear vision: we wanted to build a product that would centrally automate the manual, error-prone and often overlooked processes of backing up the valuable network configurations from firewalls, switches and routers, which were often lost or incomplete when customers needed them most, during a network outage.
From our early beginnings 13 years ago, as a niche startup with limited resources, we knew we were on the right path and gained traction with large enterprise customers, some of which still rely on our solution today! As our customer base grew, so did the demand for increased vendor support, product enhancements and of course, technical support. We’ve continually developed, enhanced and grown to the point that Restorepoint has become known as a pioneer in the configuration and compliance management of multi-vendor network and security infrastructures by service providers, financial services organisations and enterprise businesses.
Our path to growth hasn’t always been easy, but we wanted to stay in control of our roadmap and put customers first. The past few years have been our best as a business, but also our toughest. When Ben Daglish, who had been our lead developer from the beginning, passed away in 2018, we were devastated. Ben was a renowned genius, loved among the team, and had been such an influence on our products, we really struggled to imagine carrying on without him.
Life’s challenges are often accompanied by opportunities, and we were able to considerably grow our engineering team, who have worked tirelessly over the past few years to rebuild Restorepoint from the ground-up. Much of the effort over the past few years has been poured into further developing our API. Enabling our customers, and particularly service providers, to leverage the power of Restorepoint by integrating it with other tools they own, such as CMDB, support systems, or monitoring platforms.
As part of ScienceLogic, our mission is still the same. We will continue to build upon the Restorepoint platform and our roadmap, and we will support our customers as we always have. Operating as part of the ScienceLogic family, our customers and reseller partners will benefit hugely from the vast market presence, technical expertise and reputation for excellence that they are known for. This will allow us to continue to focus on what really matters to us - delivering market-leading network solutions and support.
