COMPUTERLINKS, the next generation provider of IT security and Internet technology solutions, has today announced an exclusive distribution agreement in the UK and Ireland for Restorepoint by TADASoft a leading independent software development company focused on disaster recovery for network, security and storage solutions. The agreement will enhance and
complement COMPUTERLINKS’ established portfolio of networking, security and storage solutions and will form a key component of its expanding business continuity channel proposition.

The appointment will provide COMPUTERLINKS’ channel partners with access to Restorepoint - an integrated hardware or virtualised platform that automatically backs up, encrypts and restores network and security devices from 35 vendors through a single console.

The increase in regulatory demands, growth in round-the-clock Internet-based business and the ongoing uncertain economic conditions reinforce the need to manage risk in all its forms. However, recent research by the IBM Institute for Business Value highlighted that only half of businesses have a formal risk management department or business continuity strategy in place. 1

David Ellis, director of new technology and services at COMPUTERLINKS commented, “Business continuity is an extremely hot area for the channel. We are looking forward to working with Restorepoint as we believe it addresses many of the challenges that our partners are being asked to deal with when planning for disasters
or managing compliance. Restorepoint will also enable our partners to generate incremental business streams by allowing them to revisit their existing customers that have invested in multi-vendor solutions.”

Restorepoint supports networking and security devices from 35 leading vendors such as Check Point, Cisco, Blue Coat, Juniper, F5 Networks, Palo Alto, NetApp, Brocade, Riverbed and Aruba. It is managed from one convenient central location with an easy to use, secure web interface. Restorepoint is the only vendor-independent appliance on the market and the first dedicated product to address this issue.

Michael Bell, sales director at TADASoft said, “Organisations that have had disaster recovery plans in place for years regularly centrally backup their data and applications. Achieving the same and being able to recover from configuration changes or failures of multi-vendor Network or Security devices, however, is far more complicated and typically requires a high degree of skill.  Networks underpin all the other IT systems that support so many business operations today, so even a small outage can lead to a loss of revenue, access to critical applications, and impact productivity. It’s a fact of life that companies will experience hardware failures and human errors will continue to cause network outages too - it’s how quickly you recover from them that makes the difference.”

Bell added, “Working with COMPUTERLINKS we believe their networking and security skills will be a real asset to partners working with organisations where network uptime is critical. The value they bring with both pre and post sales support is a real advantage for us and our channel partners.”

The announcement follows COMPUTERLINKS UK’s recent remodelling of its business to enable its channel partners to deliver profitable, value-added services around new and emerging technologies such as virtualisation, cloud computing and IP-based physical security.
